Sometimes it will backfire through the exhaust, sometines through the intake. I checked the ECM plug behind the intake, it seemed clean and tight. Removed the ECM from under the seat, it looked clean … WebRemove the Harley carb pilot jet. Remove the mixture screw, spring, washer, and o-ring. Spray a small amount of mild carburetor or fuel injection cleaner into the pilot jet passage and mixture screw passage. Do not allow any cleaning fluid to come in contact with the slide diaphragm (remove if needed) or the mixture screw o-ring.

In other words, the fuel mixture won't change much at all if you only do one of pipes or air cleaner change.
