The Predator is rated at 50-80#, which I personally evaluate as a 60# rod with a nice tip. The Phenix X2H is rated 40-100. That's a wide range, but from the two times I've pulled on the blank, it feels about like a 60# rod too. Maybe it has a faster tip than the Predator.

I wouldn't recommend fishing the heavy iron (6X Jr. and up) with it. I don't own an Black Diamond 809XHJ but have fished a 909XHJ. The Black Diamond is definitely a faster rod w/ more tip. For your description I'd recommend the 809XHJ.
