The protein organization of a red blood cell
WebbThe protein organization of a red blood cell. Abstract Red blood cells (RBCs) (erythrocytes) are the simplest primary human cells, lacking nuclei and major organelles and instead employing about a thousand proteins to dynamically control cellular function and morphology in response to physiological cues. WebbA) the percent of red blood cells in a blood sample. B) a disease. C) a clotting factor. D) the color of plasma. a "Formed elements" are A) sodium and potassium. B) blood cells and platelets. C) serum and plasma. D) blood and lymph. b Blood volume varies with A) amount of adipose tissue. B) changes in electrolyte and fluid concentrations.

Webb30 dec. 2014 · I knew that mature red blood cells (RBCs) lacked nuclei, but I wasn't aware until just now that they also lacked ribosomes and mitochondria. Most cells in the human body all contain a common laundry list of housekeeping proteins and RNAs (including mitochondrial proteins and ribosomal RNAs), but I guess RBCs lack a number of them. Webbhemoglobin, also spelled haemoglobin, iron -containing protein in the blood of many animals—in the red blood cells (erythrocytes) of vertebrates —that transports oxygen to the tissues. Hemoglobin forms an unstable reversible bond with oxygen.
WebbRecent proteomic studies of RBCs based on 1D/2D-electrophoresis 6, 7 or mass spectrometry assay 8, 9, allowed to recognize 272 proteins.
